Chiang Mai is a city built on the roots of a traditional heritage that dig deep into
the soil of time. It's a city with a beautiful cultural personality of
its own. In addition, it's been blessed with much majestic beauty in
nature. The people themselves are an unforgettable part of Chiang Mai.
Handicrafts of silk, silver and wood are timeless souvenirs for
visitors from all over the globe. Along with all this, a wide variety
of accommodations, restaurants, and entertainment all help to make
Chiang Mai one of Thailand's prime tourist attractions.
Koh Chang / Trat The Cardamom mountain range forms the boundary to Cambodia in the east of the province. The second biggest island of Thailand is Ko Chang, belonging to the province. The island, together with more than 40 surrounding smaller islands, forms the Mu Ko Chang Marine National Park. Trat is most famous for gemstone mining as well as gem trading.
Other islands of the province include: Ko Kham, Ko Mak, Ko Phi
Koh Samet / Rayong including all of the good parts, is a national park and has an entry fee. Thais pay 40 baht, foreigners 400 baht - a classic example of Thai dual pricing. If your ferry arrives at the main pier and you take a songthaew to the beaches, there will be a stop at the main ticket checkpoint. If your ferry arrives at one of the beaches, an officer will collect the fee as you step out of the surf. Note that there is plenty of foot traffic in and out of the park to the 7-Eleven, ATM or other shops and restaurants and if you have no bags you can nonchalantly walk into the park without anyone checking your ticket. (There is a road via the temple, take that and you won't get near the checkpoint.
Bangkok is
considered to be one of the world's top tourist hotspots and is
currently Asia's top tourist destination - the third in the world
according to Travel and Leisure magazine. The city boasts some of the
country's most visted historical venues such as the Grand Palace, Wat
Arun, the various monuments and shopping malls. There are numerous
projects to maintain Bangkok's historic sites such as the Rattanakosin
area and river districts.
Pattaya
enjoys a tropical wet and dry climate, which is divided into the
following seasons: warm and dry (November to February), hot and humid
(March to May), and hot and rainy (June to October). The most
comfortable time of year coincides with the peak tourist season, which
is over the Christmas and New Year period.
Hua Hin / Cha Am is a district in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province located 295 kilometers south of Bangkok and 90 kilometers from the provincial capital. It boasts a large market, and is full of food and souvenir shops as well as hotels. Beaches are located in the east of the province, and the main pier is on Highway No.4 at km.232. The beach at Hua Hin is 5 kilometers long, and full of white sand and clear water, ideal for swimming.
Koh Samui
Accommodation on Koh Samui, there is a huge choice of accommodation available on Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Maename, nearly all of it on the beach. Most hotels and bungalow areas are still quiet and peaceful at night but be sure to situate yourself away from the nightlife action if you don't want to be kept up late by loud, amplified music or have ligering laughter interfere with an early snooze.
Phang Nga
The province is located on the west side of the Malay Peninsula, and includes many islands of the Phang Nga Bay. The most famous one is the so-called James Bond Island, a needle formed limestone rock in the sea, which featured in the movie The Man with the Golden Gun. The Ao Phang-Nga (Phang-Nga Bay) National Park was established in 1981 to protect the many fascinating islands. The Similan Islands, one of Thailand's main diving destinations, are also part of Phang Nga province.
